I am happy with my final piece, its very child like and i think it goes with the jagged moving effect which was desired. I have explored a variety of different methods throughout the project with photography, rayography, hand drawn methods and playing around with after effects and the odd photoshop elements to it. I have acieved 25seconds so just about on target to 20 - 30 seconds which was...
In true Imogen Kelly style. Once i put the feature together with the rayograms, and text. It didnt fit, it looked wrong. One of the main words i was trying to think up when listening to the music was ‘hand generated’ Not necessarily the medium, but the movie, with the jagged sounds i don’t think the animation would go when it was all fluid. Being dynamic, non fluid and a little...
Opening sequence edit
I was going to have my opening sequence as the hand made and photo graphed tree but the outcome was really bad.. I wanted to use some animation so I am going to redo the sequence with more child like qualities including stars and the moon to give a nighttime effect, and hopefully use an overlay from one of the ink photos to tie it all in.
Stop frame animation to see what open drawn image sequences’ look like.
A sequence of he text - of the word ‘random’
the last video
was a video of some of the rayograms along with others which will represent some of the machinery.
Also after recieving feed back from my story board, i realised i never put up my 3 words that came to mind after listening to the music; *Random *Growth and sequence *mechanics and technology I will try to use all these images within my animation. I have tried to set up a story line showing sequence, and growth - along with technology and machinical interpretations being intersected throughout...
I seem to be having trouble uploading any of my after effects movies. Or any of the up dated sections. I will keep trying and update more on the blog when the problem is resolved.
Because my animation will be mostly based around one light story line and the rest a mixture of texture flashes, stop frame, text, image and collage; I will begin to put on some of the ideas for the fast frame flashes.
Tortoise, my first go and stop frame animation. Using photo shop and hand drawn mediums. Its pretty naff, not enough frames etc.
Stop frame animation that we did in a session
My rough flip book, the paper is pretty shoddy, therefore isnt the best quality but i will reproduce this in better quality when i have time.
Early forms of animation.
Flip books have been used to tell a stories since long ago… The concept is to start from the first or last page and with the thumb, flip through each page. Every character is slightly different, so when the pages are turned quickly, the image moves fluidly and realistically. I will research different types of flip books, along with stop frame animation - which is basically the same...
PRINT TO PIXEL.
I’ll begin this module with background research in methods of animating. For starters the first thing to look at is the dictionary definition of ‘animation’ –noun 1. animated quality; liveliness; vivacity; spirit: to talk with animation. 2. an act or instance of animating or enlivening. 3. the state or condition of being animated. 4. the process of preparing animated...
Final feedback sesh!
So I went along today to have a chat with the tutors. I couldn’t work out how to develop my final piece. I chose to make the train cut outs as previously posted, on a larger scale. I wasnt sure how obvious the secret was. So i have incorporated text into it to give it an extra booooooost! Ideally I would have loved to be able to use this as my first chance to use the skills recently...
Some of the ideas of secrets i have had are; *money *grave stone - taking the secret to the grave *affairs *diary *underground *unhappy marriages *mirrors *wedding cake *safe/padlock *collage *mask *enclosed spaces
Today’s workshop was setting us a new brief for skill’s two. The title is ‘hide a secret’. I did a brainstorm of possible ways of hiding secrets; encased, diary, inprison them etc. I am going to carry on writing potential ideas. The outcome of the brief is to create the hidden secret out of paper and it must be bigger than 70cm.
I have decided to go with the stars idea. I am going to try and find different materials and colours to fold the stars with. My first try out with the photos and stars looked a little bit plain as the outcome was white on white, and I don’t want to use a black backdrop because I won’t get the desired shadow I am hoping for.***
Session Two - Richard Sweeney; Paper folding.
Richard Sweeney is an artist and designer-maker based in Huddersfield. He creates and photographs unique sculptural works. He came into give us a workshop on paper folding. Richard introduced to class to three basic paper folds; the circular fold, the slits and the pleat. I found the Circular Fold the easiest, but hardest to get the angle right. The fold was made by using a scalpel or biro lid...
We were given the task of creating a house held object 10x its original size. My group were given a light bulb… Our original idea was to create circular boxes and add them one on top of the other. Although that idea was a bit hard to imagine; given that it was all supposed to be made out of paper. We used the indented card to make a centre piece. - then created circular disks to support the...
This is a blog spot created for Imogen Kelly, I am a graphic design student; first year. I will use this space to journal my findings during the skills workshops A CD cover, designed by me.
